The Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG) was established in 1982 by eight independent winemakers who shared a vision of creating premium South African wines that would receive benchmark recognition both locally and abroad. Today the 35 members share that vision and have established themselves as leaders in the art of winemaking.
CWG wines are exclusive and only sold on auction. They are produced by the members in small quantities especially for the auction. The wines undergo rigorous screening by the members of the guild at a blind tasting. Wines are selected for their technical excellence, premium quality and maturation potential.
The CWG has also recognized its social investment responsibility to the wider community by establishing in conjunction with Nedbank The Nedbank CWG Development Trust. This Trust renders a worthwhile contribution to the development and empowerment of previously disadvantaged communities assisting with the social, educational and training needs of those living in the wine growing areas of South Africa.
Codfather is proud to support the CWG’s cause and to represent the creme de la creme of South African Wines on our wine list.
